Our Time is Now*

It’s 2018, technology is advancing rapidly, and so is the rise of social media. It’s impossible to walk down the road without seeing at least one person with their head down scrolling through their timeline, oblivious to their surroundings. We are contactable 24/7, 365 days a year – there’s no escape, even our watches are able to send us messages! We are able to keep in touch with people all around the world and yes, it’s kind of scary how much we rely on the constant buzz of social media notifications to tell us how many likes we’ve had on our latest post…

It’s time for us to take a step back, switch our phones to ‘do not disturb’ and get back in touch with the world. We are surrounded by so many wonderful things and yet we choose to see most of it through the lens of a camera. Leave your phone behind, go for a walk, embrace nature, see friends face-to-face and get back into the things you love without having to reach for your phone every 5 minutes or getting distracted by whatever is on TV. Adexe London has launched a campaign all about taking ownership – so leave behind technology and go ‘traditional’ with timekeeping.

I’m not saying that we have to abandon technology altogether, I for one would struggle! I’m saying it’s good to take a break once in a while. Try and have a day where you aren’t constantly staring at a screen – go on an adventure! Remember, there was a time before technology. Take ownership of your life and don’t waste it away sat behind a screen 24/7, take control, take a break and refresh your love of life without technology. Trust me, you’ll feel better for it.

I love this! I definitely want to start doing this more, taking breaks from technology, especially as my work involves me being on the computer it’d be good in my downtime to try and do something where it doesn’t involve screens 🙂 xx
