Giraffe World Kitchen – THE place to eat this summer!*

“the katsu chicken is just like Wagamama’s but better!”

Hello lovelies, hope you’re enjoying this heatwave – unfortunately for me, it’s been a bit too hot so I’m glad of this cooler weather! A way I like to enjoy the sunshine though is to meet up with friends and have a good ol’ catch up, with good food, good cocktails and good gossip – here’s where Giraffe World Kitchen comes in…

So, recently I was invited by Giraffe to review their Exeter restaurant and try some of the delicious food and drinks they have to offer. The restaurant itself is in a great location, right in Princesshay Shopping Centre – so perfect when you’re all shopped out and in need of a rest! It’s also only a short walk from Exeter Central station.

We were seated in a booth and given the menus, and BOY were there a lot of options to choose from – they have everything from tapas to curry, steak to burgers, I guess that’s why it’s called Giraffe ‘World Kitchen’! I went for the ‘Halloumi and Feta Pide’ (a bit like a small pizza) – anything with halloumi and I’m there. Clara went for the Katsu Chicken Noodles which would’ve been my second choice! We went for the ‘2for1’ cocktail deal and the waitress recommended ‘Bramble Garden’ – gin, cucumber, apple, blackberries, elderflower, soda and ice. The waitress had great taste, it was super refreshing and even though I’m not a big drinker, the gin wasn’t too strong.

Whilst me and Clara had a good old natter, it wasn’t long before our food arrived, and wow did it look yummy! My ‘pizza’ was delicious, with a thin, light base, pieces of chopped halloumi and some spicy chillies on top. Don’t worry if you’re not a fan of spice as it comes with a yoghurt dressing. Clara’s noodles looked divine, I was a little jealous – especially when she said: “the katsu chicken was just like Wagamama’s but better”! As we are both big fans of Waga’s, this was a BIG deal. I did also order a peppermint tea but as it’s not trendy enough for ‘the gram’ it didn’t make the photo cut… though it was very refreshing and is fab for reducing bloatedness – which was great after stuffing my face!

We were sadly too full for dessert, which was totally out of character for me! The puddings did look very tempting though – they even had my favourite, Eton Mess! So, if you’re ever in the need for delicious food, right next to fab shops and with excellent service, Giraffe is the place for you!
