Five Apps For A Peaceful Mind

Five Apps For A Peaceful Mind

Sorry, I’ve been MIA! I had an infection in my wisdom tooth and a fear of the dentist really didn’t help, but I’m feeling much better now and I’m back to doing what I love; blogging! With Uni deadlines creeping up, having a relaxed and peaceful mind has become just as important as getting a decent night’s sleep so I thought I would share with you my favourite apps to help me stay calm and de-stress!

Calm Book

1). Calm

Possibly my favourite app, Calm is perfect to help calm your mind when things get a bit much. With hundreds of soothing nature sounds, from ocean waves to the rainforest, there’s plenty to choose from to help you relax (though a word of warning – if you’re like me the sound of rain might make you need a wee!).

Another added benefit is the ‘Sleep Stories’, a series of stories recorded to make you feel sleepy, my favourite being read by Stephen Fry himself! (Giving me all the nostalgia for the Harry Potter audiobooks!). There are lots of other features available and even more if you choose to upgrade to a premium account – but I’ve found that sticking to the freebies has worked out fine for me. Also look at the cute Calm book that my sister gave to me!

2). Headspace

Now, Headspace is great if you haven’t mastered the art of independent meditation and enjoy having someone talk you through everything! With the free version you get 10 free sessions and mini breathing sessions and to be honest I find that this is enough.

This app also includes a feature to connect with your friends so that you can support each other on your mindfulness journeys – cute right?! If you want to you can pay and unlock premium for even more content or if you are a student you can sign up for Spotify premium and get a 3-month Headspace membership included!

3). Stop, Breathe & Think

Similar to Headspace, this app also offers guided meditation in addition to yoga and acupressure! It also has a daily check-in feature to track your mood and make recommendations based on how you feel. One of my favourite features is the sticker feature, where you can collect special stickers for all your different achievements (I’m a big child at heart obviously!). As with most of these apps, there is an option to upgrade to premium to unlock more but it’s not necessary – who are all these people that can afford to pay and how do I meet them?

4). Audiobooks

I do enjoy a good book so this app is fab for when you are on the train home or have forgotten your book on holiday as you can listen to some of your favourite books on the go! Now the library on this app is quite limited – you won’t find any new books but you can find all of the classics, from Pride and Prejudice to Alice in Wonderland! It also has a podcast section for all you podcast lovers out there – I recently discovered a David Attenborough one about Blue Planet on the BBC website, I love that man…

Yoga Pose

5). Daily Yoga

This final app is all about Yoga! I’m not a very sporty person so for me yoga is the perfect way to exercise as well as relax. There are lots of really easy-to-follow videos ranging from beginner to expert, you can track your progress and there are also points to be won for every day that you do some yoga or even just check into the app (yaay!). I find that yoga stops me from worrying about everything as it focuses your mind on a specific task or pose plus I’m super lazy so even this small amount of exercise is good!

p.s which apps do you find help you to relax?

I love your socks! They’re so cute. I think I need to take note of these suggestions because sometimes I could really do with chilling out, haha. I reckon podcasts might be good for me, it can be so relaxing to listen to someone else talking, think that’s why I love YouTube so much x

I definitely need to start taking some more time for myself, and I reckon these apps would be perfect for that.. I love the sound of the Daily Yoga app, because I’m not the most active person either so it would be ideal to incorporate that into my daily routine! 🙊

I definitely need to try some of these out! I find that listening to slow songs I like really helps me relax and also reading but falling asleep can sometimes be really difficult for me so I’m up for anything. I think I actually downloaded Headspace a few days ago so I need to give it a go :)x

I’ve been surfing online more than 3 hours today, but I never discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours. It¡¦s pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all web owners and bloggers made good content material as you did, the internet can be much more useful than ever before.
